“I’ve been working at Haciendas at Grace Village since 2020. I’ve always liked to care for others. Growing up, I was around my grandparents a lot, so I liked being able to help them. My end goal is to go into nursing, so this job has given me the opportunity to get experience. It’s really, really rewarding being a caregiver, being able to give the residents a good experience while they are here with us at Haciendas at Grace Village, knowing that we are there with them as a second family... because they become like a family member to us, caring for them and seeing them every day. “I’ve been here since February 2022. I’ve always had a passion for the elderly and I’ve always known I wanted a career with taking care of the elderly and helping them out. Some positives about working at this job are just seeing your residents just having a good day or overcoming an obstacle, just seeing them all bond; they all become a family so its just so cool seeing them all be supportive of each other. It’s a rewarding job, honestly. It’s rewarding just seeing how the residents appreciate you, the family members appreciate you, their friends appreciate you. It’s just a rewarding job definitely. There’s a lot of times that stand out to me and mean a lot to me. I am not lucky enough to have my grandparents around anymore and so just being able to do this job takes that missing piece in my life. They give you advice, they are there for you and just being there for them. Personally, I have grown since doing this job. I feel like I have been more patient and been more understanding about life in general. Don’t be afraid to start a new career, it’s sometimes more rewarding seeing yourself grow and seeing your residents grow as well.”

“I am the maintenance technician here at Haciendas at Grace Village and I’ve been here for roughly six months. Overall, generally, I think in my position it’s always something new and that’s what I like about this job. There’s something new, something different every day. I wake up literally thinking let’s get this done! Whatever comes my way, let’s do it. What I find most rewarding is my job and title, and the upkeeping of the buildings. I take pride in what I do because it’s up to me to maintain the buildings, not only for the residents, but for the staff. I literally have to provide the best care for the buildings, so they can feel comfortable and feet safe. I do take that very personally. I am the one who gets to serve them, as they serve the residents. The experience that I am getting here is very rewarding and at the end of the day I know that I made somewhat of a difference, where I made somebody’s life better or position, and it’s pretty much rewarding. What I think is necessary to work in this kind of environment is patience and understanding of this type of environment. There’s special care and everything has to do with the residents. If I could have a suggestion or advice, it’s just always be ready. Come with a smile and be motivated to help somebody else.”
